Latest Acquisitions: The Before-the-New-Year Haul

And I'm back.

Here are the last books I bought before the end of 2011:
  • Persuasion by Jane Austen
  • Dangerous Liaisons (I cannot spell the French title) by Choderlos Laclos
  • A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare
  • The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare
  • A Few Green Leaves by Barbara Pym
  • The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
  • A Tree Growns in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
  • What I Loved by Siri Hustvedt
I bought the Shakespeares for Shakespeare Reading Month, and the rest? Well, who needs an explanation for the crazy things we do?

I'm reading A Midsummer Night's Dream this month. And I LOVE A Tree Grows in Brooklyn! Nice finds. :)

oh shit! Darlyn...Laclos is DA BOMB! DANGEROUS LIAISONS is SO much fun to read. It's like a very mean spirited chess game. I'm sure you'll love it.

It's not that differently spelled in French, it's LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES.

I can't wait to hear what you think of Curious Incident. I really enjoyed that one.

This is like the greatest book haul ever! A Tree Grows in Brooklyn especially is so wonderful! Also, I'm aiming to read Dangerous Liasons this year... we'll see how that goes.

Persuasion is going to be my next read, and I am doing it with Marg as a buddy read. I am so excited! I sort of like to ration my Austen to one per year, as I know there will be no additional books coming out! Great stack today! Enjoy them all!

Oh, great haul! I have only read one Barbara Pym, but it was really, really good. I also LOVE A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and Persuasion and really liked The Curious Incident. Happy reading!

A good Shakespeare choice! I've decided that I'll be saving A Midsummer Night's Dream for, well, midsummer, but it should be a great one for the Shakespeare month. I hope you enjoy your other books!(The only other one I've read is Persuasion, which, as an Austen, I loved.)

Yay for Austen and Shakespeare! I have The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time and I've been told it's amazing. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it :)

Pttf. Since when buying books is crazy? There is no such thing as too many books, no matter how hard our budgets try to convince us otherwise ;)
