Darlyn. 21. Voracious consumer of books and movies. I live in the Philippines. My hobbies include reading, writing, watching John Hughes movies, and staring at other people. No, seriously. As a novice writer (I like to say that aloud in a British accent with my upper lip curled up a bit like Hugh Grant), I like observing people because you never know what you’re going to see.
I love: Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, romantic comedies, rainbow sprinkles, Maroon 5, loafers, Rilo Kiley (even if they've bitten the dust), Audrey Hepburn, and coffee.
Favorite Books: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Persuasion by Jane Austen, All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Looking for Alaska by John Green, and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.
Favorite Movies: Love Actually, Lost in Translation, Amelie, 500 Days of Summer, Windstruck, Easy A, Flipped, Pride and Prejudice, 3 Idiots, Sense and Sensibility, A Very Long Engagement, 10 Things I Hate About You, and Midnight in Paris.
Okay, I admit it. Classics used to scare the living daylights out of me. Sure, I studied Literature in college, but, most of the time, I tried to pass my exams by reading SparkNotes. Needless to say, my professors were not impressed. I started this blog to push myself to start reading classics, and to document my thoughts along the way.
Why did I name this blog Your Move, Dickens? When I think of classics, Dickens is the first writer who always pops into my mind, and a lot of people (including me) find his wordiness intimidating. I figured including his name in my blog's name would immediately tell people my blog is about classics. And the Your move part? I just thought it would sound funny. *You do find it funny, don't you?!?!? DON'T YOU? No, you don't have to find it funny. I was just kidding.*
I'm currently trying to read all the books in my TBR pile, so, no, I'm not accepting books for review at the moment.
If you have any questions about my blog or if you just want to talk about books, you can reach me at email@example.com. I love meeting new people, and I would love to hear from you. I also have accounts on Goodreads and Twitter.
